Hello Spirit Friends! When thinking of today’s post I just couldn’t help but remember an episode of Spongebob Squarepants where he says the word”Imagination” while making a rainbow with his hands! I have kids so of course am familiar with that show.. It’s so true though! Do you STILL use your imagination or recognize it in your dreams? I say still since sometimes we dismiss such thoughts of our youth and think more like adults now. Well, guess what? Your imagination and dreams make a BIG difference in life and you should pay attention to them both. Plus, it’s kinda FUN!!!
I was always imaginative as a child and so very glad to have passed that onto my kids despite the technology of today’s world. They remember and it does still count today. Dreams are different for all but coming from someone who has had a VERY active dreaming state my entire life, think I’ve learned a thing or two… I found it hard to fall asleep as a child. Did you as well? It wasn’t that I was afraid of anything like those “monsters under the bed, in the closet, or weird noises…” Nope, not that at all. The situation was that my brain couldn’t settle down for sleep. Once I was dreaming~~~ a much different story! Getting there was the hard part. My Mom would come in and rub my belly or sit with me for a bit while younger sister lay fast asleep across the room. Why couldn’t that happen for me? This was ALL part of my spiritual development even back then only I didn’t even know it. I wasn’t playing out the day in my head like grown-ups do or even necessarily thinking about tomorrow. I wanted to sleep so bad but just couldn’t.
Counting sheep always seemed very silly to me as I questioned everything. I mean, really? Why is it sheep jumping over a fence? How is that gonna make me sleepy? Ugh… Not working for me. It wasn’t until I started actually using a mantra that totally turned it all around. I didn’t know what a mantra was back then but repetition works that’s for sure. Without any help (at least not anyone in my family but most definitely up above) I thought of things that interested me. Just making a random list in my head without too much thought at all. I did have to do this activity many years later with my own daughter, wow— what karma. So, I did something like this: riding bikes, swimming, coloring, playing outside, dolls, reading, music, etc. Get the idea? Remember I was around 8 or so but some are still true today! Your list can be whatever you wish but it’s just that— a list.
For some reason this thought remained: “Crayons and coloring books.” Huh? Why would that statement stick out for me? Sure, I enjoyed doing that but it still puzzled me. That became the ONE thing that worked for me all those years ago. Repeating that phrase helped my brain to settle for sleep. I couldn’t believe I finally found something that clicked for me despite the subject. I probably would’ve chosen swimming but nope, I got the coloring. WHATEVER WORKS. Remember that for later…. Once I got older, things changed~~ of course! Here’s where the imagination and dreams worked together for me. It’s similar to a few weeks ago when I mentioned my past-life with the Apaches. I dismissed some of it since it felt made up to me. The truth is— it all works and it all works together to guide you. Sure, you can make stuff up but the team pulls it into motion to give you what you need. It doesn’t matter and I am still learning that today.
A few years passed after my coloring mantra and then it became all about acting. Maybe I missed my true calling? I loved certain T.V. shows and often times would place myself in an episode while dreaming. Oh boy~~ this was fun! I couldn’t wait to go to bed and start using my imagination for dreaming. The truth is this all started when I “liked” actors in these shows. I use that word loosely since I was 10 my friends… But, it was great to imagine story lines and drama. Going to sleep became EASY for me then. I will admit as I aged— the story lines changed a bunch…… There is a big difference with a ten year old mind versus a fifteen year old one! Don’t get all nutty, it was all good just not as “child-like” anymore. This became such a huge part of my dreaming life and again, whatever works.
I will admit that I still do this today. It doesn’t matter my age, marital status, children, career, or anything really. My life is so much more involved now that the mind gets extremely jumbled. Dreams take that all away for the night. O.K., some dreams come to me that I don’t create or make-up like the spiritual ones. Pick up my book Spirit and Belief to find out! Yes, they concern Warrior but it’s all part of my development as are others. Nobody likes the ugly or negative dreams but they connect us as well. It can’t all be roses and rainbows (Spongebob!) Dreams show us part of ourselves we might not know or perhaps need to work on. Think metaphors and symbols. They might mean nothing but then later on you might have that AHA moment. You are the co-creator by using the imagination you were given. Sure, sometimes it is your life getting played out but then it can be so much more. How about those Spirit Visit Dreams from passed loved ones? You might even get a snippet of a past life. If it’s negative, maybe find out more. It can be anything but it’s all just for you. Imagine scenarios that take you on a different adventure or experience for the night. Maybe you always wanted to try a new career but in this life, you won’t. You CAN in your dreams! I’ve learned to let go of any guilt and just let my mind take over. We are just acting taking on a new role and then waking up to begin the new day.
I would love to know about how you use your imagination in dreams! Remember that it is something always there for you and can come back even after childhood. It is O.K.. It all is. I have done some dream work and it does count, believe me friends. I don’t want to intimidate any but if you have questions, meditate on them or look up meanings. There is much info out there so find what works best for you. Until next time~~~ Happy Dreaming and use that imagination! Madonna says that in her song: “Vogue.” (:
~~~ Next week, I will be asking the question: “Are Spiritual Tools Necessary?” Hmmm. Maybe to some they are but are they always needed? Stay tuned and stay true to find out!
