I see what you’re thinking on this Spirit friends since no sleep CAN be a problem but I am here today to tell you that it doesn’t have to be. At least not all the time. I’m not talking about a serious chronic problem which does require medication or alternative measures. I’m talking about those few nights of restless insomnia some or perhaps many of us get from time to time. I know I do. For me, it’s that time of the month, I might have been too active right before my downtime, or even just engaging in some form of media before sleep. It’s different for us all.
Being intuitive means I never sleep for those 8 hours or so that seems to be required. I usually get 6 and ya know what, that’s ok. It’s ok because that’s my schedule and my body still works. Yes, I KNOW that most will argue and say that we never get enough sleep and you are probably right on that. I’m not talking extreme things here like trying to prove you can survive on 3 hours of sleep a night and still function every day. Well, some may do that and that works for their life but it isn’t necessarily the healthiest of ideas. You will still have energy or get it somehow in other ways but it’s all about that balance I preach on here.
This post isn’t about the benefits of sleep and what patterns we need for our overall health. I decided to take a different approach with this topic affecting us all. We all try methods and shouldn’t judge what works for some and not others. I am usually awake from 3-5 or so every early morning and guess what? I don’t fight it anymore but accept that as part of my new “normal.” Sure, I still toss and turn but I never fully get up. You can but for me, that isn’t something I want to start making a habit. You can choose to meditate, pray, watch T.V., play on your phone, or anything really. Once I begin something like that, I’ll never go back to sleep! Too much stimulation for sure. These activities may work for you so try them out if you’re stuck and I’m thinking most of you do.
We fight not being able to sleep. We do this because we have that schedule and if we don’t get those hours of sleep, the next day will be miserable and so will we. How about this instead? When you find yourself totally awake after a few hours of trying to sleep, ACCEPT it. Your soul knows what you need. It might be telling you to just release and stop trying to control everything. We set ourselves up for panic thinking–” great, now I’ll need like 10 cups of coffee or and an energy drink mid-day to get through…” Those stimulants will help but are they needed? Late last year, I pushed caffeine aside and switched to decaf. Alright, I have my cravings just like you but am going without pretty much most of the time. No, I didn’t go thru withdrawals or react all weird at all. I’m been told I have a lot of natural energy but mostly psychic so it’s not like caffeine will help me. Those of you without my kind of energy will probably still think you NEED those cups in the A.M. to begin your day or else! Your body and mind are so used to them that it’s part of you just like anything else.
Try a smoothie with fruit and antioxidants or an herbal tea to start your morning. People talk about drinking an 8 oz. glass of water to fill you up first thing. You may just brush this off and I’m fine with it really. Beginning anything new is scary and strange in so many ways. if you are serious enough, your mind and body will cooperate. I only ever had 1 cup of coffee anyway but maybe a little more sometimes….. We aren’t the same but I just want to change your mindset a little into thinking we need all this extra stuff. I’m not perfect either but most of what we put into our body is because we want it and have convinced our mind of just that. That gets us back to sleep. We’ve been told 8 hours our whole life but for some, that has never happened. I have mentioned having some sleep issues as a child and that probably explains my life now somewhat where I get it… Again, this isn’t to diminish a serious sleep pattern where extra help is needed. It’s just those few nights in a row or dispersed throughout the month of literally only getting a few hours and feeling panic will kick in the next day.
I remember one night of that happening to me and yet I still did all my errands, chores, and 2 hour workout. Later, when finally settling in to watch T.V. for the night, I dozed as sleep came easier. I have learned to just accept those nights without begging God to let me sleep! I have my evening routine that almost always helps me get the sleep I need. I said need and not want. If you don’t have a routine, get one. Some can just go to bed and fall asleep no problem like my husband but then there’s me. If you are like me, you NEED a routine that will help you settle in. You can find what works for you but just remember to be calm. We find ourselves stressed about our next day’s plans and so many other concerns. Let them go.
We will never get all caught up on sleep but can catch those naps when we need them as well. Release your need for control of the body and mind and sleep will come. Not right away but over time, it will. You have to do the work though and not resist. Some of us aren’t night owls and feel uncomfortable being awake at some ungodly hour. I was only up back then when feeding bottles to my babies. You don’t have to physically get up but just try your best to be calm even though parts of you are fighting it. Maybe you’ll even actually feel like you have more energy! Yeah I know that’s hard to believe but the coffee isn’t always doing that for you… I can debate this issue with many always but I’ll end it here. Just know you can have energy but don’t need to prove it. Sleep can be such a complex issue for all of us but if we learn to get rid of controlling everything, we’ll get what we need when we need it…. Just accept and trust that you are taken care and the Universe knows your wants and needs…
