This post is an extension of one of my favorite medium’s blog at: www.intuitivesoulsblog by Jessica Lee. She discusses how to stay grounded before doing a mediumship reading and different techniques to fuel your energetic spark but since that isn’t technically me, I am going to share my own version of ideas anyone can do to bring some centeredness into your life. Jessica mentions 19 ways to ground yourself with spiritual development and she has so many cool ideas but I was inspired to add a few of my favorites that can work with anyone. Of course with anything in life, always make sure to stay hydrated and get lots of rest. I know how hard these seem for some but really~~~ they are necessary for all of us!
Jessica mentions nature and I am a big believer in that for sure. The elementals are so good for really connecting and finding ways to focus on your own interests that work for you. I am an Earth person (yes, I did the quiz!) and she lists tons of ideas but one I will add is flowers. I realize sometimes with the weather this isn’t conducive but remember that not everything has to be as literal as we think it needs to be. Adding them to your home once in a while will brighten anyone’s day! I will list some things to ponder if you are searching for ways to bring nature in your home and life:
AIR~~~ star gazing, moon watching, sunrises/sunsets, cloud pictures, birds flying, other winged animals such as butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybugs. Anything that makes you appreciate the wonders of the sky. A hot air balloon ride sounds heavenly to me! We love ziplining and I realize things can be costly but it’s ok to splurge sometimes if you can. The sky’s the limit (pun intended!)
FIRE~~~ be safe and smart around heat but appreciate its beauty and feel its warmth igniting within you. If you have an indoor fireplace or outdoor bonfire these are great but also candles with scents such as lavender, sandalwood, vanilla, or anything that moves you. There are many rituals you can also do that I have done and I must say—they are so freeing! Write down negative blocks and fear based thoughts to send to the Universe. Burn them safely and know that your messages are being sent out and let go. I also have written down goals or dreams and sent them on their way. Try anything that works for you! Trust that they are being taken of. Send them to the light up above….
WATER~~~ Besides taking a warm bath with salts or essential oils, there are more ways to connect with water and so many are my favorites! We have a pool so swimming is a must for me in the summer and I enjoy many water sports. I need to put some on a bucket list like parasailing and possibly white water rafting someday! Water has a natural ability to relieve tension and stress so I highly recommend it. A hot tub mixes heat and water but follow the rules! If you aren’t into the sports, try finding some body of water and meditating on its presence. Look for waterfalls in your area or possibly a lake or ocean. Really watch the waves move in and out and marvel at its creation. You can also find many fish tanks or aquariums in nature centers or zoos, I love watching fish. Another bucket list adventure—how about scuba diving? I so want to try that someday!! I have jet-skied and tried water skiing so anything is possible.
Jessica mentions EARTH so besides flowers, you can find those out on her blog! There are lots of other ways to help with staying in the present moment if nature isn’t your thing. Be creative! The possibilities are endless! Go to your local library or bookstore and find a new book (maybe someday mine will be there!!) or read a new blog online—hey—that’s how I got to know more about Jessica! The internet is filled with many resources for learning and tons of websites may spark your interest. Take a class, learn something new like how to paint, draw, cook, bake, etc. Think outside your comfort zone and just go for it. Mix up being quiet and active–we need that balance for our brain and bodies.
Maybe something simple like just redecorating a small space in your home can change perspective and shift your ideas. I know how much that works for me. Even painting or buying something new re-energizes my spirit. My book Spirit and Belief mentions how redecorating our mantle with a flameless candle lantern changed my outlook on things~~LITERALLY!! Another great idea and I know everyone needs to do this from time to time but how about de-cluttering? I hate clutter and make the time to give items to donation centers every once in a while. We all have things that we have outgrown or don’t want, need, or use anymore. There are clothes, shoes, books, toys, furniture, and the list goes on. Get the whole family on board! Think about giving back to those who have little. It does make a difference and makes me feel so good. Please don’t give away things that you wouldn’t want yourself, everyone has limits…
The last thing I’d like to mention is animals. Again, this can be very simple or more detailed depending on your style. If you have pets, interact with them or make the time. Animals are more intuitive than we are and who doesn’t love to snuggle a puppy or kitty? Your choice (: Just watching animals in their native state can be very rewarding. Check out your own backyard or local park. I’m not saying become a bird lady (I’m thinking of the old woman in Mary Poppins!) or staying put on a park bench but just engage for a few moments if you can. Little kids are all over animals or at least mine were but sometimes we want more excitement like the circus! A farm is another great place to really interact and become hands on with many animals. Pet stores have opportunities as well, just look around.
One more idea I just thought of is kids!! I understand they possibly aren’t in everyone’s lives but they have always seemed to be in mine. All families and relationships are different but young children like animals pick up on things we miss or aren’t aware of. I’m not talking about the spinach in your teeth or that new “blemish” on your face! Don’t ya just love their honesty? What I mean is their curiosity and the need to explore, find things out, and just believe in all the good. We lose that childlike wonder as we age and sometimes need to find it again. Plus, their humor is so contagious! I used to teach preschool so believe me on this one…..
Well, I think that about wraps it up for now. I hope this blog gave you some new ideas on staying centered, focused, and like Jessica said—grounded. Feel free to check out her blog and post, she rocks! Also, I would love to read how anything you have tried works or your techniques. Share your ideas!!! Next week~~~ I will be talking about numbers and especially the number SIX. If you sense numbers in your life, you won’t want to miss this post!!!
