Before I begin today’s post, I just wanted to mention a few things absent from last week’s lomilomi experience. As with any type of practice, first you must ground your space and set those genuine intentions. Our group said some native Hawaiian prayers and then each took a turn reading a line or two on the four cardinal directions of north, south, east, and west. We also wrote down a personal intention afterwards and then burned them while they got sent up to the Universe. This was a beautiful way to acknowledge our presence together while giving thanks at the same time. Always remember in your practice to do the same with whatever rituals you choose.
This brings us to today’s post spirit friends! I wanted to do a little Q and A type of writing today and relate some of what I went thru while exploring spiritual development. Maybe some of this has happened or is currently happening in your life so perhaps I can guide you along… How do you know the right path to choose or follow? There are so many teachers and people out there so who is the right “fit” for you? There are books, videos, websites, groups, meetings, blogs like mine, and so forth and is extremely overwhelming. If everything is so intriguing, how do you know what to do? How much is too much with regards to email, social media, and others? Another question that was always on my mind was if you are connecting to a passed someone in spirit, would others be offended if you weren’t connecting to them? UGH!!! What to do???
When I started, these exact same questions were all over my head while wanting answers and I had no idea where to begin. I have mentioned Hay House but you can google anyone or anything really. Just try out some people for a bit at first and see if you connect to their message in some way. It is very easy to get absorbed into tons of words or even videos but you need to find out if they are truly genuine with their intent. I will admit this is still a toughie for me so you can do some research or ask others who they like. The few mediums online I just happened to stumble across and their approach totally equaled my attitude with spirituality. It all depends on how they work with your type of personality. Most have archived blog posts or many different things to check out so some may be great for you and others not so much. You might enjoy a woman more over a man or vice versa. Why not both? Try to focus on certain areas that are perhaps small and then broaden your horizons. I mean really, who has that much time in their day to read, watch, and email others? Carve out a chunk of time everyday and keep at it.
Here are some pointers to help you get started if you’re new, stuck, or just want to try and condense all that’s out there.
~~~ Follow your intuition and listen to your heart or “gut” instincts. Don’t just follow someone who seems enormously popular or is someone your BFF likes. You could be very surprised…
~~~ Rule of thumb for me is— no more than THREE bloggers to follow since that is a great spiritual number! Plus, it gets to be too many that you feel obligated with.
~~~ No more than TWO hours a day on any type of practice or spiritual development you are doing. This doesn’t have to be all at once so you can scatter throughout the day and get back to something later. For me, any more time involves too much of my day and the other things I need to accomplish. You need to do what you can but if you are serious, you’ll work on making the time. Again, start small and then work up. This also includes writing, reading, meditation, checking email, etc.
~~~ Prioritize a list of “to do’s” for the day and stick to it the best way you can. Make THREE or FOUR top aspects of your development you’d like to focus on for that day and see if you can accomplish them. If it seems too stressful, move something to the next day. Don’t feel like the Universe isn’t supporting you if you can’t get to everything. Try your best and then later on you can expand.
~~~ This brings me to the question about passed spirits. I have learned that spirits want us to be happy–that’s it! They want what is best for us so whoever you connect with is fine. If they work for and with you while helping bring you closer to Source, it doesn’t matter who it is. Believe me here with regards to Warrior. My book Spirit and Belief explains this as well. Spirits don’t have the egos in that way anymore but we still do so sometimes this becomes challenging. It’s kinda like when you have a certain friend and you know some other people are close by so you don’t want to offend anyone….. We teach kids to include everyone so nobody gets hurt “feelings.” Spirits are available to always assist us with whatever we ask if it is with the purest intent. I had this A LOT when I started since working with a celebrity was not the “norm” as with working with a Grandma for example. I know my Grandma(s) would support me with or without validation. (Kimberly of the Lomilomi experience) Sure, you can ask, talk, or strengthen a relationship in the Universe with anyone but just believe me when I say they won’t be offended. If this is hard, just pray or meditate on it and ask for guidance. You shouldn’t feel obligated to connect with anyone and this doesn’t mean you didn’t love them either. They know this and completely understand. Trust that they do.
This concludes my list of possible questions I had and wanted to concentrate on. If you have others, please ask me and I’ll do my best while trying to relate. I also have actually moved on from some people and am exploring others now. Sometimes, you might not find regular bloggers or maybe you’d like someone more main-streamed with the media. Again, all in your path of choice. If after some time, you feel the need to branch out, do it. I’m always trying to learn all I can and see what else can help me with my development. Some mediums discuss different topics not for me and then I connect more with spiritual teachers or life coaches. I didn’t even know what lomilomi was so try something new! I just recently started exploring Runes but am not into certain pagan rituals much at all. You need to at least try and figure it out on your own. If you have like-minded people, even better. They can guide you but the decision is up to you.
Spirits work in the same way. They can guide but you need to decide. If there are signs, follow them. If you choose not to, they won’t be upset but perhaps lead you into a different path. Some people have stated that when choosing a path after resisting signs they got, it proved to be the wrong choice. Life lessons are hard but we need to navigate them how it works for us. Spirits could be leading you down a certain “road” but you might chose a different one. You accept the “road” with your free will. That also means any consequences or future decisions. We all learn as we go along in life while facing these obstacles thrown our way. You are never alone and are always supported by the Universe. Go with your own feeling on something, not what everyone thinks you should do.
